Foundations of Free Motion Quilting

Unlock your quilting potential in this five-session course designed to build a strong foundation in free-motion quilting and ruler work on a domestic sewing machine. Whether you’re brand new to these techniques or looking to improve control and consistency, this class provides clear instruction and guided practice to help you quilt with confidence.
Throughout the course, you’ll quilt a table runner that serves as both a focused skill-building project and a polished finished piece. Each session introduces a new technique—progressing logically from free-motion fundamentals to ruler-guided designs—allowing skills to build steadily without feeling overwhelming. By the end of the series, you’ll have improved stitch control, increased confidence, and practical strategies you can apply to future quilting projects.
Prerequisite: Complete the Desert Star sampler Table Runner class on March 11th as the table runner will be used in the FMQ class.
A supply list is available and will be e-mailed to you when you sign up for the class or stop by the shop to pick up a copy.
